Chocolate Crinkle Cookies

chocolate crinkle cookiesThese chocolate cookies are crunchy on the outside, and soft inside. They “crinkle” because they puff up as they bake and expand, creating a crinkle effect with the powdered sugar. Rich, chocolately, deliciousness!


Ingredients:
1/2  c  (1 stick) unsalted butter, at room temperature
1  c  sugar
2  eggs
1  t  vanilla extract (or vanilla powder)
1 2/3  c  flour
2/3  c  unsweetened cocoa
1 1/2  t  baking powder
1/4  t  salt

Blackberry Pie

blackberry bushTo my mind, there are very few activities as satisfying as standing among heavily-laden blackberry bushes in the afternoon sun eagerly filling a bowl with warm, juicy fruit. Brilliant purple jewels, soft and sweet. Eat a few, drop a few into the bowl, eat a few, drop a few more into the bowl. Even at that rate, alternately eating and filling, your bowl fills quickly, providing more than enough to make a succulent, luscious, beautiful, perfect pie.

Pizza is one of those satisfying meals that’s gotten lost or obscured in the blur of fast food restaurants and frozen aisle entrees. Many of us have become accustomed to the taste of those assembly line pizzas, the drive-thru Take & Bakes, or the frozen pies wrapped in plastic and cardboard.  Not a bad choice in a pinch, but nothing remotely resembling the deliciousness of a home baked pizza.  Once you’ve had one, you realize that nothing else compares.
