These little delicacies are a must-have Southern confection. They go perfectly with a cup of strong coffee for a quick pick-me-up, or as a sweet treat on Kentucky Derby day. They’re easy to make and have a unique, spicy flavor that would be perfect for any holiday celebration.
2 c ground vanilla wafers
1/2 c ground pecans
1/2 c powdered sugar
1 T light karo syrup
2 T bourbon whiskey
Separately, 1/2 c powdered sugar in a small shallow dish
- Mix the first 5 ingredients thoroughly and chill for an hour or two.
- Roll chilled dough into small balls, then roll in the powdered sugar to coat.
- Serve, and enjoy!
Bourbon Balls can be stored air-tight for about a week. Improve presentation by rolling them in fresh powdered sugar before serving.
